Implementing UDL Across a Pre-Service Middle Childhood Education Program

Log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

This session will describe the 3+ year ongoing joint effort of Special Education and Middle Childhood faculty to embed the teaching and implementation of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) throughout a four-year general (middle level) education program. This is part of a larger effort to introduce eight special education conceptual frameworks throughout the program, allowing students an opportunity to obtain both a general and special education license. Faculty within the two departments met monthly and developed a program that implements UDL in select courses, with each year building on prior knowledge. The session will outline UDL instruction in selected courses with a focus on chemistry and assessment, describe efforts to date, and planned future directions.
