Jennifer C. Townsend, M Ed, is an educational consultant with expertise in social emotional learning differences including autism spectrum disorder. Over the past eighteen years, she has worked in collaboration with school districts to build capacity for educating students with autism spectrum disorder and related disabilities in the public school setting using Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principals paired with appreciative inquiry coaching. She recently co-wrote the Social Emotional Engagement Knowledge and Skills (SEE-KS) framework to support this success. Jen demonstrates high quality knowledge in a manner that educators, families, and other community members can learn and apply within their daily routines. She comes to the field of education with experience in school-based programming, home-based programming, mental-health and well-being, trauma-informed care, professional development, coaching, implementation of evidence-based practices, and universal design for learning. Jen has a Master's in Education from Johns Hopkins University, received a postgraduate Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorder from Johns Hopkins University, has her Director of Special Education and Pupil Services certification from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, and is an adjunct faculty member at Carroll University in Waukesha, WI. Jen Townsend is an active member in the field of education and believes that together we can go beyond just making a difference; we can be the difference.
